This weekend marks the start of the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, an event that in the past has premiered classic films such as American Psycho, Reservoir Dogs, and The Usual Suspects. For the next ten days, today’s best independent filmmakers will descend upon Park City, watching movies, hitting the slopes, and checking out the town’s nightlife. Here's a little preview of what's to come!
While the festival extends through two weekends, the first one is the most lively. On Friday afternoon, Casamigos kicks off their Happy Hour Apres-Ski Lounge, complete with cocktails and a coffee bar. For some late night entertainment, head to TAO’s pop-up club, which will be featuring various DJs throughout the night. Another L.A. native, Rock & Reilly’s, will also be making its way to Utah. The Irish pub is teaming up with J. Crew, and giving guests a space to customize their J. Crew denim pieces while sipping on hot toddies and whiskey. Stella Artois will be bringing back their annual beer garden with a twist. This year, Café Artois will also host various panels discussing Women in Film, which Jennifer Hudson, Rose Byrne, and Keira Knightly are set to attend.
Sundance parties are always a good time, but the films are the star of the show. One of the most anticipated films set to premiere this weekend is Lizzie, a murderous psychological thriller staring indie darlings Chloe Sevigny and Kristen Stewart. Gus Van Sant is debuting Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far On Foot, which is said to bring humor to dark subject matter. The movie stars Oscar nominees Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill, and Rooney Mara. Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage is premiering his post-apocalyptic movie I Think We’re Alone Now, which also stars Elle Fanning. Oftentimes, the Sundance documentaries outshine the new dramas. Check out Three Identical Strangers, which depicts the journey of three identical triplets who were separated at birth.
Each year, the Sundance Film Festival is full of countless events that offer a little something to everyone. If you’re feeling social, hit up the 2nd Annual Respect Rally, or check out the NFL Conference Finals in the DIRECTV Lounge. If you want to soak in some culture, there are no shortage of thought-provoking films and panels for you to attend. Either way, it will be an unforgettable week!
